Personal Motivation & Modeling Journey
How long have you been modeling, and how did you get started?
I was about 13 years old when I noticed a “Modeling Studio” sign on the freeway feeder and my mom was like, “that’s not the kind of modeling you’re interested in lol.”
Back then, we had the yellow pages before the Internet, so I went to the section M for modeling schools and called all the schools to get information on how I can get signed or how I could start and ended up enrolling into barbizon modeling school, which then allows you to sign with the agency for a year.
I did runway shows for department stores and did promo marketing for brands like icebreaker gum and Febreze.
What inspired you to pursue modeling? Was there a particular moment or experience that sparked your interest?
Honestly, I wanted to explore modeling because of a TV show I watched called Models Inc in 1994!!
MTV was really big and Cindy Crawford hosted House of Style. Then Tyra’s show Americas Next Top Model just made me want to pursue it more.
What types of modeling have you done before, and how does boudoir compare?
Hair, Print, Erotic, Promotional, Runway, Bridal, and Pin Up Modeling have all been a part of my 23 year journey. Boudoir for me is less about performing and more about existing and feeling comfortable in my skin. A moment to be soft and feminine.
How would you describe your personal style as a model?
I tend to be a chameleon, I adjust to whatever the shoot calls for. I try not to limit myself to any one style as to be fluid for all the creative possibilities.
How do you balance photo shoots with other aspects of your life?
Balance? What’s that? lol time is so limited with me as a mom and balancing my clients but scheduling these shoots are imperative to my soul. It’s a way of honoring myself and staying sane.
Working With Krystie
What stood out to you about her approach to boudoir photography?
Her approach to lighting stood out! She never fails to amaze me on the final edits.
She knows exactly how to capture your softest angles and the intensity of a moment between you and her camera.
How did she help you feel comfortable or confident during the session?
She’s a gals gal first and foremost! Which I love and I feel like she gets me on a different level because of my alternative look and personality. Being around her as like hanging out with a sister.
What would you say to others about working with her as a photographer?
Krystie is extremely passionate about what she does and how she approaches her photography. Know that you’re in the hands of somebody who’s top priority is delivering immaculate photos for you to cherish for years to come.
Did the experience change the way you view yourself or your confidence in any way?
I somehow walk away completely renewed with a sense of who I am because she never fails to remind me that I’m a bad ass bitch.
How would you say boudoir photography complements your overall modeling journey?
Boudoir Photography complements, my modeling journey overall by adding more confidence and range. It allows me the ability to express emotion, sensuality, and vulnerability.
Tips And Advice
How did you prepare for your shoots? Did you do anything special in terms of mindset, outfits, or self-care?
I highly suggest not bringing anything you don’t feel 150% confident in. whether it’s a shoot with Krystie or anybody else always speak up about your makeup and hair if you don’t like something. Don’t come in there worried about your cellulite or your extra skin or a pimple on your butt or a pimple on your face.
Do drink lots of water, eat well, and get rest before you shoot! Don’t over drink the day of shoot.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering a boudoir photoshoot, what would it be?
Do it! You have to do it at least once!
